Dear sir/ madam,
We would like to ask you to pay attention to situation that is happening with political prisoners in Belarus. The presidential election campaign in Belarus took place in 2020 but the repressions and tortures against of political prisoners are increasing .
From May 2020, more than 5000 people were detained, arrested and prisoned among them are activists, members of initiative groups, bloggers, journalists and many others. All the political prisoners are falling under different kind of tortures and other cruel ,inhuman and degrading tratments and punishments.
Today, the eyes of the world community are enchanied to the unacceptable and horrifying situation that is happening with Viktor Babariko who is recognized as political prisoners.
Since June 2020 he has been arested and sentenced for 14 years of prison. He has been unable to contact his advocate and family, receiving parcels and letters in order to increase pressure on Viktor and his family.We also do not know anything about his health condition as on the 25th April 2023 Viktor Babaryko has been hospitalised into Novopolotsk town hospital, Belarus, with the signs of assaults and tortures. Advocate is practically not allowed to meet Viktor as necessarily.
We would like to ask you the action, that authorities are making against Viktor Babaryko,Nikolay Statkevich,Sergey Tsikhanovskiy and many other political prisoners and considering all actions against them as torture,cruel, inhuman and degrading treatments and punishments and asking for support, solidarity and coverage of this issue. In the long run, those actions that making in penitential system in Belarus may cost many lives.
